What is an annotated bibliography?

An annotated bibliography is a list of sources you plan to use for your paper and includes a citation and a written statement about each resource. Your bibliography should follow MLA Style. You can borrow read the latest edition of MLA in the library, but it's not available to check out.

Your annotations should be a few sentences long and can summarize the source, a description of how it's relevant to your topic, and/or how you plan to use the source in your essay.

An annotated bibliography should be double-spaced and citations should use a hanging indent.

California State Library has a really helpful Annotated Bibliography Guide, including a sample annotated bibliography in MLA format.
