How to Use the Library While Studying Abroad

You can use the library even when you're away from campus. Our digital materials are available to Middlebury students no matter their location. Use the Advice for Off Campus page of this guide or the library's Off-Campus Access Page to learn how to log in to library resources from anywhere.

You may also be able to access research libraries associated with your program or take advantage of public libraries while abroad. Talk with your instructors or see the handbook for your program to learn more about other libraries available to you during your time away.

Interlibrary Loan Abroad

While off campus, you can request articles, book chapters only, or scans from Middlebury owned materials for electronic delivery. To use ILL abroad, you must change the delivery site in your ILLiad profile.

Changing your delivery site in ILLiad:

  1. Log in, click profile, then Update Your Profile
  2. In the User Information section, change your delivery site to "Off-Campus - MiddRemote"

Once you have updated your ILLiad account, you may place requests immediately.
