MIDCAT

Books at Middlebury

MIDCAT is the Middlebury's digital catalog. It provides records for all the materials within our libraries (books, DVDs, CDs, Microform, Magazines, etc) as well as much of our e-book collection.

For more options, use MIDCAT Advanced Search or Main Menu.

Our Equipment Search lists available cameras, computers, and more!

If you're not finding what you need in MIDCAT, try searching WorldCat to find items in libraries across the world.

When you find a book in WorldCat submit a request for it using Interlibrary Loan. From your account you can also check the status of your requests.

Expandable / Collapsible Text: Instructions

To create a box with text that you can expand and collapse:

  1. In your guide, Add a New Box > Reuse Exisiting Box.
  2. From the Storage Guide, choose Expandable / Collapsible Text: Example box.
  3. Give your box a new title.
  4. Check the Make a copy checkbox and click Reuse. The box template will be added to your guide.
  5. To customize, click Add / Edit Text.
  6. Click on Plain-Text Editor.
  7. Replace Visible Text 1 with your text.
  8. Replace Hidden Text 1 with your text, and so on.
  9. Delete the code for any extra sections or, to add additional sections, copy and paste the code from Section Five. Update "para5" to "para6" in three places.

    <!--- SECTION FIVE NAME --->
    <p><a style="cursor:pointer;" onclick="return toggleMe('para5')"><img id="para5_image" src="http://lgimages.s3.amazonaws.com/data/imagemanager/85891/triangle-arrow-20-right.png" style="border:0;margin-right:5px;vertical-align:middle;" />VISIBLE TEXT 5</a></p>

    <div id="para5" style="display:none;margin-left:40px;margin-bottom:25px;">
    <p>HIDDEN TEXT 5</p>
    </div>

  10. Save.

Caveats:

  • This only works for "Rich Text" type boxes. It won't work for Lists and Links boxes, etc.
  • You must do all editing in HTML in the Plain-Text editor.

EZproxy Bookmarklet

The easiest way to seamlessly connect to subscription e-resources is to enter through any of the Library's webpages. However, if you've started elsewhere, the EZproxy Bookmarklet can help. When you're on a webpage that you would like to redirect through the Middlebury Library's proxy server, another option is to use our bookmarklet. Here's how to install it:

Reload via Midd Lib

  1. Drag this button up to your bookmarks toolbar in your browser (or save it to your favorites toolbar):
  2. You will see a new button in your toolbar: "Reload via Midd Lib."
  3. Now, when you're on a web page that you'd like to redirect through the Library's proxy server, click this button to automatically reload the web page.

Note: This will only work if the Middlebury Library has a subscription to the resource.
