LibrarySearch Overview

A guide introducing the various features of the new LibrarySearch interface

Placing a hold

Please note that this feature is currently turned off for students. But please email or call the library if you are a student that needs item pulled for them.

Middlebury Faculty and Staff can request an item be pulled and held to pick up at your convenience. If an item is currently checked out, you can also place a request so that when the item is returned it will be held for you to pick up next. You must login with your Middlebury credentials in order to place a request. Open an item record, click "Place a hold", choose a pickup location, and then send the request. You will receive an email notification when the item is ready for you. Item will be held for seven days before being placed back into circulation. Please note that some items are not available for loan and must be reviewed by staff if you are interested (ex. items in Special Collections).

Request item not owned

If the library does not have an available copy of a book or article, you can request we get it for you! This service is free and can happen in a variety of ways. Within LibrarySearch, you must login with your Middlebury credentials in order to place a request. Look for a "Request specific pages" or "Request via Interlibrary Loan". Fill out either form to place your request. You will be emailed once the item has arrived for you. If you want a specific item that you cannot find in LibrarySearch, you can place a request directly via the Interlibrary Loan department

Request we purchase a copy

Is there something you think the library should have as part of the collection? You can place a purchase request and our staff will assess if the item can be added. We encourage all College community members to support our collection development by suggesting library purchases.
